Thursday 20th August 2015
Welcome to a round-up of recent events and results. It's been a busy few weeks here at DH Towers and we've had a bit of a holiday between us so there's a lot to catch up on.
We'll start with Carlisle parkrun. The first Carlisle parkrun of August on the 1st of the month saw PB's for Carol Thomson, Olly Ewbank, Richard Henry, David MacGillvray and Simon Dolman.
The following week on the 8th PB's were aplenty for Susan Fawkes, Paula Thanner, Anni Stumpf, Kirsty Mahoney, Tracey Pagin and Andy Baker and finally a small handful on the 15th saw PB's for Dion Crozier and Michael Dobson. Well done everyone.
On the 2nd of August myself and Lucy Lamb took part in the Carlisle Tri-Club Triathlon. As well as ourselves competing there were many DH Runners marshalling so well done for volunteering guys.
Results were as follows:
Lucy Lamb - 1:19:40.55
Steve Claringbold - 1:32:12.20
For a round-up of the event feel free to head over to my blog page and check it out here (https://runmoderatelysizedmiddleagedduderun.wordpress.com/2015/08/17/tri-again-carlisle-tri-club-triathlon-review-2nd-august-2015/)
On the 5th August we hosted our ever popular Magic Mile event at The Sheepmount. It was a brilliant event yet again and a great turn out. Thanks to all who came down to the event in whatever capacity. You can find the results here.
On the 8th August myself, Kev and Kathryn headed down to compete in the London Triathlon. Kev competed at Beckton parkrun to kick off the Saturday and ended up as 1st finisher with a time of 18:44.
Over at the Triathlon I competed in the 10:50 Super Sprint. Finishing in a time of 1:02:08.
While Kathryn was competing in the afternoon Sprint. Kathryn finished in a time of 1:50:47.
On the Sunday Kev was competing in the Olympic distance finishing in a time of 2:39:10.
I'll be compiling a personal blog post on this over the weekend if you'd like to take a look. It will go further in depth on my personal hatred of stairs.
On the 15th August Andrew Graham headed over to the Bassenthwaite Triathlon to compete. This was a standard distance tri and Andrew completed it in 2:46:01. Afterwards Andrew said "Cracking day at Bassenthwaite Lake. By far the hardest Tri I've done yet (which includes the one with the missing wetsuit incident) the run was brutal!"
Over at Inverness David MacGillivray was taking part in the Inverness parkrun and completed it in a time of 21:34 which is a parkrun PB for him. Well done David.
Also on the 15th a troop of DH Runners headed down to the Gateshead Trail 10k the full results for that can be found at this link (http://www.stuweb.co.uk/race/Yp/?p=0). Notable mention to Adam Hetherington who was 3rd Male Finisher in his age group.
Upcoming we have the Fleetwood Half Marathon on 23rd August. If you have an event coming up please let us know at the usual places.
Until next time.
