Friday 29 January 2016
Hello you lovely people.
How have you been?
It’s been a long time since we last rounded up some results. Christmas is now a mere memory and the first month of the year is nearly at a close.
Not much has been going on since Great Langdale was cancelled in December. Inskip Half Marathon was cancelled in January but the great people at Sport In Action managed to get the Resolution 10k underway on Sunday January 17th.
It was a lovely scenic run with the snow having set everywhere and there were a few PB’s out there which was definitely good going in the conditions.
Shout outs go to those who emailed with their results:
Kevin Scott finished in 39:49 in position 16. Kev was 3rd place in the over 40 category and bagged himself a Chivers Voucher in the process.
In her first competitive 10k Kathryn Holliday finished in 54:04
Beverley Armstrong crossed the line at 54:09
Hot on her heels was Mark Drummond achieving a 10k PB with a time of 54:09
Andrea Young finished in 56:17
Rachel Lee finished in 57:41
Louise Porter got a 10k PB with a time of 58:04.
The rest of the results can be found over at:
As discussed at the AGM all members should have received an email detailing the plans for supporting a charity throughout 2016. All members have a vote on which charity to support with the deadline being this Sunday 31st January so if you plan to vote you need to get on it straight away.
You may have heard about Ben Smith’s 401 Challenge. Ben has approached DH Runners to assist him in his visit to Carlisle on February 14th. In a nutshell, Ben is running 401 marathons in 401 days. Raising funds for his chosen charities Stonewall and Kidscape. As I write this Ben has ran 151 marathons and covered a distance of 3956 miles. Keep an eye out on our Facebook and Twitter for more information on his visit.
Upcoming there is the reverse X-Border and the Watchtree Wheelers 5k this Sunday (31st January) and then we have everyone’s favourite race the Great North West Half Marathon in Blackpool on February 20th.
If you’re taking part in an event let us know and we’ll make sure it gets featured.
Until next time, happy running
