Fiona Moore was over in Morecame for the Morecambe 10k. Fiona completed the course in 55:39. Also taking part was David Macgillivray who finished in 45:17. Saturday 10th June was the Crosby-Ellenborough 10k (near Maryport) which saw Paul Todd taking part and finishing in 57:35.
Runstock, organised by Rat Race, took place over the weekend of 9th to 11th June. The idea is to clock as many laps, of a 5k course, as you wish within the 8 hour time limit and rack up those Runstock lapbands.
Representing DH Runners were Mark Drummond (along with his two children), Adrienne Harris, Michelle Mackay and Frances Braithwaite.
Mark and his kids managed five laps in a time of 7:17.32
Adrienne managed six laps in 7:05.32
Frances completed 8 laps in 7:04.22 and Michelle bagged a whopping 10 laps in 7:54.37.
Great going all, especially the kids.
Taking place between the 8th and 11th June was the Keswick Mountain Festival. Numerous events were on during the weekend. The results are as follows: In the Short Triathlon was Nina Errington who finished in 1:36.36.

Also that weekend was the Gelt Gladiator. Well done to everyone who survived.
Bamburgh 10k was on Sunday 11th June with representation from David Macgillivray. David finished in 44:43.
14th June saw a midweek run at Gosforth. This time it was a 10miler with participation from Paul Todd. Paul finished in 1:33:02 in what was a debut for him at that distance.
Held over the weekend of 16th and 18th June was the Muckletoon Festival. No obvious results for this yet so I’ll try and cover that next month. If you took part drop me a line with the event you entered.
The only result I currently have coming out of Muckletoon is from John McGibbon who took part in the Trail Half Marathon finishing in 2:22.42. John said afterwards, “A good turnout from DH on a tough course and very hot day. It's the only race I've doubted whether I would finish, but pushed on and crossed the line a broken man. Bring on next year!”
On Sunday 18th June many of the DH Runners ladies took part in the Race for Life. This is something that has been supported by the group for a few years now and it was great to see the ladies attending in their DH pink. Well done everyone.
Also on Sunday 18th June was The Lakesman Triathlon. The self-proclaimed ‘LakesMott’ Amanda Kirtley was the sole DH entrant. Amanda finished in 16:11.45.
The DH Runners volunteer zone was on hand for the second year with many of the crew cheering the runners around the course. We’ve had great feedback from the competitors about how much that area and those supporters helped them and how much they looked forward to running through it again and again. No doubt we’ll be back for a third year which will also see many of our members take part in not only the Lakesman Triathlon but also the Lakesman Half. It’s going to be a massive event for the team next year.
Yet another event for the 18th was the Freckleton Half Marathon. The ever travelling Paul Todd was taking part in this one and finished in 2:17.24.
On Wednesday 21st June was the Stamfordham 10k. This one saw David Macgillivray head over and complete the course in 46:59 despite visiting the pub before the start and getting tripped just after the race started.
Saturday 2th June was the Whinlatter 10k. Taking part was Richard Henry who finished in 56:32.
Hadrian’s Wall Half Marathon took place on Sunday 25th June and taking part were John McGibbon (1:49.45), Anthony Nicholson (2:13.56) and Paul Todd (2:18.30). John said afterwards that, “It was a cracking trail half in a beautiful setting beneath Hadrian’s Wall.”
Appleby 10k was also on Sunday 25th June. Representing the club were myself (Steve Claringbold), Simon Dolman and Emma Taylor. I finished in 43:48, Simon in 48:06 and Emma in 1:07.13. The outcome was that it’s still hilly. Course PB’s for both myself and Simon with Emma making a debut visit to the course.
Yet another mid-week run took place on Tuesday 27th June. The Tynedale 10k was entered by Paul McKnespiey (38:19), Karl Douglas (51:40), Paul Todd (54:48), Carol Douglas (55:52) and Christine Alcock (55:57). Great running guys in what I’ve been told were very wet conditions.
What a fantastic month of events. Keep it up everyone.
In the next round-up we’ll be looking at the 24 hour Cummersdale Relay charity event, the Ultimate Trails 55k, Moffat 15k, The Isle of Arran Half, The 5 bridges of the Tyne and The Ullswater Triathlon to name a few.
